This site is for Mr. Farley’s Physics classes at San Leandro High School. Everyone is welcome here though.
Physics is the study of the physical world (and universe!) around us. Physics asks and answers questions about how gravity works, how electricity flows down a wire, how a rocket is propelled into space, how the universe began and will ultimately end. There are big and little questions in physics, but they are all important.
Physics sounds scary, and most people avoid taking it if they can. If they can’t avoid it, they get through it as best they can and move on. But some people love physics. As this is probably your first physics class, my goal is to help you to enjoy physics, in some way.
There is a lot of math in physics. As a physics geek, I don’t think you really understand something in the physical world unless you can do a calculation about it. We will use algebra and geometry often. But don’t be scared, we’ll keep it simple and concentrate on physics concepts first and then get to some calculations after you understand what’s going on.
