Linear Motion

1. Speed is always relative

2. Speed: Average and Instantaneous.

Example: If I take a trip in my car, and I drive 100 km for 2 hours, pull over and eat lunch for an hour and then drive another 200 km in 2 hours.  What was my speed during the first part of the trip?  What was my speed during lunch?  What was my speed during the last part of the trip?  And what is my average speed for the whole trip?

Do the Questions on page 13 in your notes.

3. Speed vs. Velocity  Speed is the rate at which something moves; velocity is speed in a given direction.  Answer the question on page 14 in your notes.

4. Problems (do for homework if we don’t have time)  Answer problems26 and 27 on page 26 and 1-8 on page 25.  Try your best on all these questions and I will tell you the answers either at the end of class or tomorrow.
